David Thomson

David has a broad-ranging background in the hospitality industry with hotel and destination marketing organizations, including: international marketing in Europe, Asia and Latin America and particular depth within Canada and the United States. He brings to the G7 portfolio diverse and varied expertise in property, brand and destination marketing.

Capping a stellar corporate career, in 1999, he set up T.T.S. Marketing International group which specializes in marketing and sales for destinations, resorts and hotels. Clients include Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, the Canadian Tourism Commission, Air Canada and Air Canada Vacations, Pan Pacific Vancouver, Tourism B.C. (British Columbia), Delta Hotels & Resorts, and Silver Star Resort.

David has also served as Vice President Advertising & Communications for the Canadian Tourism Commission and President  & CEO of Tourism Whistler, the agency responsible for marketing Whistler Resort internationally as well as managing the Whistler Golf Club and the Conference Centre.  During his tenure, Whistler was transformed from a regional destination to an award-winning international resort and tourism icon for Canada. This followed a long and distinguished association with Delta Hotels & Resorts where he served as Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing. In this capacity, he helped steer Delta’s establishment as a major industry brand and rapid expansion across Canada and into Florida.

His marketing background includes extensive Canadian experience as well as inbound marketing into Orlando, Florida, the Florida Keys, Sedona, Arizona, Bermuda, Mexico and the Bahamas. With the establishment of the Canadian Tourism Commission in 1995, he served in a voluntary capacity as the founding Chair of the U.S. Leisure Marketing Committee whose mandate was to increase visitations from the U.S. while chairing the Latin & South American Marketing Committee, then the newest emerging market area for Canada.

David is a graduate of the B.C. Institute of Technology in hotel management and attended the Kellogg Institute at Northwestern and York Universities for consumer marketing programs. He has also completed programs at Cornell University in hotel marketing and most recently, the University of British Columbia with a certificate in internet marketing.
